Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada

March 10th, 2012

3-10-12While out riding, I turned into a drive to avoid traffic ahead only to realize the sidewalk was full of pedestrians so I rode further in the drive to turn around. A security guard asked where I was going. It turned out that the drive was to the Catholic Charities, so I said that I wanted to talk to who was ever in charge. He said that would be the Monsignor.
I was met in the lobby by a very interested Peggy McKenzie, who after hearing about my mission, said that she wanted me to meet with Monsignor Patrick Leary the CEO of this multipurpose facility. The Monsignor took the time to sit and talk with me about my mission and offered some sound advice for going forward with One Million Acts Of Kindness and The Kindness Bicycle Ride for Heroes. Pat Falvey, the Vice President of Development took me on a very detailed tour of this facility which offers care for anyone who needs help with the basics of a place to stay, to be fed or clothed. This facility offers so much more than just the basic necessities, with a local community struggling with many issues related to poverty. The agency encompasses many diverse programs which provide a wide range of social services designed to help people, from infants to seniors. They strive toward the goal of each individual gaining self-sufficiency, independence, and dignity. Catholic Charities has only one focus, to give help and hope to people in need, regardless of race, religion or creed.
