Great Day for a Ride

March 8th, 2012

3-8-12Sheer perfection, that is the most fitting way to describe today’s ride. Two days of straight-line winds and gusts, as I found out, were over 80 mph. It’s no wonder that The Kindness Bicycle almost could have played a supporting role in The Wizard of Oz or more like Gone with the Wind. The front sign I fasten to the windshield of The Kindness Bus, while parked, blew away and I created a new one. The original one is probably somewhere over the Colorado Rockies. Thank you to Home Depot for donating the material for the spiffy new sign.
I was all over North Las Vegas today and stopped so many times to talk to so many very interested individuals. Pat McTigue and Arlene Henderson, two very generous REALTORS from the Las Vegas area were SO nice and cared about everything One Million Acts Of Kindness stands for and they loved The Kindness Bicycle Ride for Heroes.
Rudy, a USAF Wounded Warrior insisted on buying me breakfast at a local restaurant. He is now a Police Officer in a nearby community. He invited me to visit his station when I am in his town later next week. Thank you Pat, Arlene and Rudy for your support and interest.
Today, I decided that on Monday of next week, I will ride 101 miles, to honor Sgt. Henry Prendes, Las Vegas Metro Police Department, who lost his life in the line of duty during a Domestic Violence call. I will be riding the entire perimeter of Las Vegas, which is nearly the entire distance.
