Roxbury Rotary Club

Saturday, July 30th, 2016

Thank you to the Roxbury Rotary Club of New Jersey for letting me be one of their keynote speakers. Any group that has the motto “Service above Self” is most definitely doing some kind things for the community.
Many of the members are involved in various charities and also give of themselves on their own in various ways: both of their time and their financial resources. Rotary has a way of challenging its members to be kind, the four-way test is a testament to that.

Challenges to Children

Thursday, July 28th, 2016

Raul turned his car around and then chased me down on foot to tell me that there are far too many kids that he knows are taking their life. One year ago he said he was in some very bad things and almost lost his family but he turned his life over to God and is now a youth minister for troubled kids.
God bless you Raul.

Green Thumb

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

Ray Halsey, owner of the Green Thumb market, left a note on the Kindness Bus a couple of weeks ago asking me to come and visit him and his employees at his market. He is a 13th generation Southampton resident. He realizes the importance of kindness in his community. So many new people, so many ultra-wealthy people and so many very poor people share this South Fork of Long Island. The importance of everyone getting along together has never been so needed.
Thank you Ray for your hospitality and basket of produce for my good health and for helping to spread kindness to everyone in this beautiful area of the country.

Epic Martial Arts

Sunday, July 24th, 2016

Thank you to Sensei Michelle Del Giorno for the invitation to Epic Martial Arts to talk to three classes of her students about kindness. My mission dovetails perfectly with what she is accomplishing in her studio.
The motto of her studio is, “Out of the dojo and into the world.” In conjunction with earning their degrees of belts, each student needs to perform acts of kindness and do community service. I was so impressed how well-behaved, knowledgeable and how caring the students are. The lessons they are learning are character traits they can rely upon for their entire lives.

Great Group!

Saturday, July 23rd, 2016

One of my favorite things to do is talking to groups of young adults as I travel around the country, city by city, on the Kindness Bicycle. All of them instantly get the message and want to see in awareness about bullying and adolescent suicide, the Kindness Bicycle fits the bill.
Every student across the country knows someone who has been bullied. Tragically, most of them know someone who has taken their life. It is unanimous that all of them want to see an end to this epidemic.

Thank you East Hampton Star and writer Christine Sampson for the wonderful article about our visit to their fine town.

Harmony Cafe

Thursday, July 21st, 2016

Spent the day visiting the Harmony Café in Patchogue, New York. This “pay as you can” restaurant will help feed those in need. Founder Rosemarie McCarthy and her board and staff are first-class all the way.
So many people I met today including Gail Feldman, Jason Neal, Tammy Hoey, Janet Russell and Brittany Loesch are giving back to the community in a very big way.
